90 parking spaces closed in lot next to stadium Friday

Stadium construction will close 90 parking spots in the parking lot just west of the new on-campus stadium Friday. Additionally, the temporary one-way street that connects Pitkin and Lake Street will close beginning Monday, Oct. 17.

Parking lot #240, which provides 258 spaces, is the only lot that will be impacted by the closures.

The current entry on the east end of the parking lot will close on Monday, moving the entrance to the connector road on the west end of the parking lot.

One-way southbound access will be allowed. No northbound traffic will be permitted, and the temporary arrangement will remain through early November.

Bicyclists and pedestrians can use Arbor Trail through the University’s arboretum next to Summit Hall. The University asked pedestrians and bicyclists to refrain from using the path connecting Pitkin and Lake Streets during the closures.

The road will be replaced next spring when new roads east of the stadium are complete.

In addition, new synthetic practice fields for athletics will be added west of the new stadium to make connecting facilities easier. The existing football practice fields west of the intramural fields will be repurposed for other athletic programs to use.

Other additions in the area will include investing and adding to the existing arboretum. The Agricultural Heritage Garden will become a gateway to the stadium and show the agricultural heritage in CSU’s history.

Both the Agricultural Heritage Garden and new practice fields will contribute to the loss of parking spaces in lot #240 with construction beginning on Saturday Oct. 15.
