Students speak out against lack of diversity

Students at University of California – Los Angeles created a video complaining about the misrepresentation of black male students at the school.

“We had to do something to put our issues on the map,” Sty Stokes, the leader of the group of students, told The Daily Bruin.

The university responded that they believe the lack of diversity at the school is unfortunate, but hard to combat due to state laws that prevent the consideration of race in the admissions process.

“Since the law took effect a decade ago, black enrollment at UCLA has dropped 57 percent. But Connerly says inferior schools are at fault, not his law,” according to NPR.
