Hughes was built in 1964 and did not see a renovation until 2006. Some of the glaring issues areĀ the concrete,Ā piping across the stadium, wheelchair accessibility, seating and locker rooms, according to Steve Hultin, CSU’s Facilities Management director.

ā€œAs a facilities director, it pains me to ask for money for a facility that is used six times a year, as opposed to academic buildings, and other buildings on main campus that have use daily,ā€ Hultin said.

On the tour, officials also discussed how a new on-campus stadium would be able to hold other functions besides football, like soccer and lacrosse, whereas Hughes can only accommodate football games.

ā€œThere is so much to be done, and it’s a beautiful setting,” saidĀ Anita Rite, a Fort Collins residentĀ who took the tour.

CSU President Tony Frank will make his decisions regarding the on-campus stadium in December during the Board of Governors meeting.
