Homecoming is just around the corner — and with it comes a special day for families and students alike. Colorado State University’s festival on The Oval and Homecoming Parade will commence this Friday, Oct. 4 from 3-6 p.m. in the heart of campus. Family, friends and alumni are welcome to join current students in celebration of this year’s football season.
Including activities like face painting, photo opportunities, giveaways, student involvement booths and bouncy castles, the festival will offer something for all ages to enjoy.
A full list of Homecoming weekend events can be found on the Colorado State University website.
“I think our families really enjoyed the inflatables because if they’re bringing younger siblings or younger family members, it’s a great way for them to experience campus and get involved,” said Bailey Harr, employee in the Office of Parent and Family Programs. “For the older members, I think the beer garden is a huge success, especially with the alumni.”
The beer and wine garden will feature Horse & Dragon Brewing Company Craft Brewery, Intersect Brewing, New Belgium Brewing Company, Odell Brewing Company and Pringle’s Fine Wine and Spirits. Attendees can also enjoy one of the many food truck options, such as Austin Taco, Bigs BBQ or Mile High Lobster Shack.
Excluding food and drinks, the event is free and open to the public. Interactive demonstrations will be held by Little Shop of Physics, with musical performances by Kind Dub as well as Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene.

The festival will lead into the Homecoming Parade, which will feature music from the marching band paired with various floats and performances.
“(My favorite part of Homecoming is) being able to showcase the pride of CSU through our performances,” said Alexa Morgen, a sophomore in the CSU color guard.
Following the parade is the pep rally, where students are encouraged to sport green and gold and cheer on our football team before they play against San Diego State University. Friday Night Lights will be later that night as well, where people are welcomed to watch the lighting of the A.
Students and community members can also join in for the famous bonfire and fireworks and, most importantly, revel in the welcoming atmosphere that this campus has to offer.
