Rodenbaugh: Recent actions from Betsy DeVos perpetuate ‘victim blaming’ mentality

Recently, United States Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos announced her intent to reduce Title IX funding for sexual assault prevention at universities after meeting with various men's rights groups. Her decision is a symptom of a larger problem in the United States with victim blaming and rape culture.

On June 27th video footage of CNN executive John Bonifield admitting the Russia investigations by the company were 'bullshit' and admitting there was 'no real proof' became the number one trending video on YouTube. As a journalism student, I'm saddened but not surprised in the age of ratings-driven talking heads.

CSU junior Fish Wildlife and Conservation Biology majors Francis Commerçon and Kiloaulani Ka'awa Gonzales have won the prestigious Truman Scholarship. It is rare for two students from the same university and in the same major to be selected as Truman scholars together.
