After leading the team in blocks in a pair of dominating victories last week for the No. 12 Colorado State volleyball team, sophomore middle blocker Alexandra Poletto was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.

Between the four-set victory against UNLV on Wednesday, and the sweep of Fresno State Saturday, Poletto averaged 2.57 blocks per set, including a record setting performance against the Bulldogs.

Poletto recorded 12 blocks in the match with Fresno State, which is the highest individual total for any Ram this season. The 12-block performance also tied a CSU record for most blocks in a three-set match. Poletto recorded six blocks in the victory against UNLV.
The Toronto, Ontario native leads the team with 1.33 blocks per set for the year, and has averaged 1.45 blocks per set in Mountain West play.
Poletto has been consistent all season, both offensively and defensively. In the victories against UNLV and Fresno State, Poletto not only led the team in blocks, but also totaled 13 kills, hitting .321 for the week.
The individual award is the third of the season for Poletto, who received Offensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 26, and was also named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 9. No other CSU player has earned three weekly awards from the conference.
