CSU volleyball picked to win the Mountain West

Emmett McCarthy

It comes as no surprise.

The head coaches of all 11 volleyball teams in the Mountain West voted, and it was Colorado State that emerged once again as a favorite to win the conference.

CSU received seven first-place votes and 97 total points. The Rams enter the 2015 season having won the MW title the last six years in a row.

The others schools to receive first-place votes were UNLV (2) and Boise State (1), who finished in a tie for second with 83 total points each, and Wyoming (1), who came in fourth with 77 points. New Mexico did not receive any first-place votes but rounded out the top-five with 67 points.

The Rams went 17-1 in conference play during the 2014-2015 season, with the only loss coming at the hands of UNLV. The two teams split the season series, each winning on their home court. The Runnin’ Rebels finished second in the conference last season after going 14-4 in the MW. Wyoming came in third at 12-6 while New Mexico and Boise State each went 11-7 in conference play.
