CSU Diversity Symposium highlights education

The CSU Diversity Symposium continues this week with the keynote speaker, Freeman A. Hrabowski, presenting Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre.

Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, was named one of America’s 10 Best College Presidents in 2009, and one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” in 2012 TIME magazine, among other accomplishments. In 1963, Hrabowski joined the Children’s Crusade march for civil rights in Birmingham and walked with Martin Luther King.

Along with the keynote, general sessions will continue on Thursday in the Lory Student Center from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The focus for this year’s symposium is trending topics of diversity in higher education and topics directly relating to diversity initiatives at Colorado State.

The Symposium will conclude on Friday with a musical presentation from rap artist DanAKADan Friday, Sept. 19, 4 – 5:30 pm at the Durrell Center, Seminar Room C.
