Seriously: Why you should talk to everyone tabling on The Plaza

Dylan Tusinski August 19, 2021
Every fall, the Colorado State University campus undergoes a familiar annual routine. The freshmen fill the dorms, the Clark Building becomes even more dilapidated and, most importantly, tabling returns to The Plaza.

Meltzner: A movie-goer’s guide to Fort Collins

JD Meltzner August 18, 2021
Fort Collins has quite the reputation for being a nature adventurist’s paradise with its surplus of bike paths, hiking trails, fishing spots and parks. But the amenities of Fort Collins go far beyond a great day at Horsetooth Reservoir, extending into a hidden hotbed of cultural entertainment, including some truly unique experiences for movie lovers.

Blouch: College is not an excuse for alcoholism

Cat Blouch August 17, 2021
In many ways, drinking is synonymous with the college experience. At Colorado State University, undergraduate students under the age of 21 are required to complete an online alcohol education course.

McKissick: Tips for navigating dating post-pandemic

Nathaniel McKissick August 16, 2021
When COVID-19 entered the United States early last year, no one could foresee the tumultuous year that would follow. The virus disrupted school curriculums, workplace norms and family dynamics, all while leaving a trail of pestilence in its wake.

LTTE: Politics have a place in sports but racism never will

Guest Author August 5, 2021
It’s July 11, 3:55 p.m., Sunday afternoon, and I’m lying on my couch. I have a fever, headache and sore throat, and the only thing making the world bearable is my 18th cup of tea and the Union of European Football Associations' European Championship: Italy versus England.

Tusinski: Fort Collins deserves a better flag

Dylan Tusinski July 26, 2021
Every flag is designed as a symbol. Whether they don stars and stripes, the not-so-aptly-named stars and bars or just a corporate logo on a white banner; every flag represents an idea, organization, nation or religion with which people identify. As a result, every flag, to some extent, is an extension of people themselves. Flags are us.

Tusinski: Live music is back; enjoy it while you can

Dylan Tusinski July 15, 2021
Seeing live music is a way of life for me. I'm a Deadhead, or a fan of the psychedelic rock band The Grateful Dead. The Dead have created a cult following of Deadheads by playing thousands of live shows over the years, each of which is unique and filled with long, improvisational jams that can stretch on for hours.

Meltzner: Blockbusters at film festivals harm independent movies

JD Meltzner July 8, 2021
As the film industry emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are seeing big-budget films taking over film festivals in an effort to bring more attention to the events.

Tusinski: Police presence at Pride disrespects the celebration

Dylan Tusinski June 24, 2021
The first Pride was a riot. It's become something of a woke cliché to say, but it's true. In 1969, the New York Police Department raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in New York City. The patrons of the bar fought back, tossing bottles at officers and forcing them to retreat and stop the raid. It was a turning point and the first widely publicized act of queer resistance to police brutality, helping ignite the LGBTQ+ movement as a whole.
