On Monday, April 11, Colorado State University's Office of Inclusive Excellence hosted Naomi Greenspan of the Academic Engagement Network. The Academic Engagement Network lists its mission as seeking "to oppose efforts to delegitimize Israel, to support robust discussion, research and education about Israel in the academy, to promote campus free expression and academic freedom and to counter antisemitism when it occurs on campus.”
Greenspan advocates that opposition to Israel is inherently antisemitic. Against this backdrop, it is important to remember why Israel is so often a target of criticism:Â Israel is a racially segregated state that continues to engage in deliberate ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
On Thursday, April 21, I submitted my commencement speech to the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ council to be presented at the CVMBS spring 2022 graduation. I was the only ethnic student presenting a speech, and I was the only ethnic student in the room, presenting in front of a panel of all-white judges.
Can CSU call itself inclusive and diverse if CSU does not directly support first-generation students, immigrants, ethnic students, girls’ education, women’s rights and other minorities in telling their stories?Â
If you live in the state of Colorado it is crucial that you act now to protect reproductive rights.
When talking to young people on Colorado State University’s campus, it is clear that many feel that their bodily autonomy is at risk. Many students have watched as the Texas Heartbeat Act, Senate Bill 8, has caused immense difficulty for birthing people. This is terrifying for young people who want to continue to make their own life decisions.
On Thursday, September 30, 2021, the cover of The Collegian newspaper featured an illustration of a blue-haired police officer standing in front of a police vehicle, enticing readers to examine an article titled, “CSUPD Mental Health Co-Responder Program Launches.” The article reports that the Colorado State University Police Department and UCHealth are partnering to send two-person teams — one behavioral health officer and one police officer — to intervene in situations the police deem capable of being de-escalated.
Students for Life is a secular, nonpartisan pro-life Registered Student Organization at Colorado State University. We are committed to respectful dialogue with our peers.
As a college student during this pandemic, I, like many of my peers, have had the “best years of my life” uprooted and my future put on hold while decision makers determine when we can resume some sort of normalcy. As a young person born into a climate and extinction crisis, I am unable to ignore drastic global biodiversity loss leading to pandemics under which so many have suffered.
Did you know that 22% of undergraduate college students have children? That means that one out of every five students you talk to on this campus has little ones waiting for them at home. These students are among the hardest workers at our University because they not only manage work and class but their families as well.
I was alarmed to learn that some of my classmates are demanding the censorship of religious fanatics on the Lory Student Center Plaza. Before you dismiss me as some right-wing culture warrior, I should clarify that I am a leftist, an atheist and I am gay.
We’re glad to hear the Colorado State University System and the City of Fort Collins have formalized their intention to uphold democracy and preserve the land today known as Hughes Public Open Land for the entire community, visitors and all generations to come.
In late May, we all breathed a sigh of relief. COVID-19 cases had dropped dramatically in Larimer County and with that, there were fewer hospitalizations and deaths. As our community got vaccinated, local businesses rebounded, kids returned to in-person learning, participated in sports, went to summer camp, musicians got back on stage and we all finally felt safer visiting our friends and family.Â
It’s July 11, 3:55 p.m., Sunday afternoon, and I’m lying on my couch. I have a fever, headache and sore throat, and the only thing making the world bearable is my 18th cup of tea and the Union of European Football Associations' European Championship: Italy versus England.
