Win games and you’ll win awards. Colorado State soccer has yet another athlete voted as the player of the week for the second week in a row.

Kristen Noonan was awarded the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after the team’s two-game road trip over the weekend. In their 3-0 blowout win over Valparaiso on Friday, Noonan had two of the team’s goals. After an early goal, Noonan’s second goal was the game winner. After a corner kick, Noonan’s shot came as a successful header attempt, using all of her 5-foot-11-inch frame.

Noonan continued her hot streak with the Rams’ only goal against Marquette on Sunday. Six of CSU’s 13 goals this season have either been scored by or assisted by Noonan.

Noonan’s aggressive play has been the key for her success this early in the season. Over the weekend, she had seven shots, six of which were on goal.

The sophomore is one of the transfers finding success this year for CSU. The native of Porter Ranch, California, came to the Rams after one season at Cal-State Fullerton. As a freshman, Noonan was second on the team in goals (five) and earned all-freshman team honors in the Big West Conference.

Noonan is the second Ram in two weeks to win a conference award. Last week, goalkeeper Gabi McDonald was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week. McDonald had eight saves in a shutout against the University of Denver en route to receiving her player of the week honors.

CSU finished their non-conference slate with a 5-2-1 record as they move into conference play. The future is bright for this Rams team as both award winners are underclassmen and look to contribute for a long time.
