Gian Clavell cleared for practice, not games

Colorado State senior guard Gian Clavell has been cleared by the University to return to practice, the University’s Athletic Department said in a statement.

While Clavell has been cleared for practice, the Puerto Rico native is not eligible to return to game action pending a further investigation of a false imprisonment arrest on Nov. 9. Clavell was arrested after his ex-girlfriend told police he physically restrained her in the Moby Arena parking lot last week and continued to contact and touch her after she repeatedly told him to stop.

The full statement from the Athletic Department:

“After its initial investigation, and in consultation with the University, the Colorado State University Athletic Department has allowed Gian Clavell to return to practice with the men’s basketball team. However, due to the nature of the incident, Clavell is not allowed at this time to compete in games pending further evaluation. No further statement on Clavell’s status will be made at this time.”
