Gerold then lost control after attempting to stop and drove off the roadway on the west side of the intersection.

FCPS was notified of the incident at approximately 10:45 last night. Police believe speed may have been a factor in the collision.

Gerold, who was wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment.

The intersection of Elizabeth Street and Overland Trail was shut down for approximately 5 hours after the incident while investigators were processing the scene.

Anyone who has any other information about this incident should contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at (970) 416-2224.
