The spooks of Halloween this time of year make for a good reason to get a little closer to your special someone.
Freshman petroleum geology major Jordan Coffman is looking forward to partaking in some traditional Halloween festivities with his girlfriend.

“We are going to carve pumpkins and watch some scary movies with her roommates,” Coffman said.
For Coffman, he doesn’t need candy or costumes to celebrate. He would rather cuddle up for a classic slasher film and carve an “award-worthy” pumpkin.
“I’m just happy to be relaxing and spending time with my lovely girlfriend during Halloween,” Coffman said.
For other students, however, Halloween is the perfect time of year to grab someone special and get a little adventurous.
Sophomore construction management major Brandon Torrez will be taking his girlfriend to all the coolest costume parties in town.
“I’ll make dinner for just the two of us, then we will get ready to go out,” Torrez said. “[Halloween] is one of the best party times throughout the year.”
For Torrez, dressing up is the best part of this holiday, next to spending it with his girlfriend.
“This is the best excuse I use to dress up half naked and show off my hard work at the gym,” Torrez said. “But after the parties, my girlfriend and I will have late night food, cuddle and watch movies.”
If parties and pumpkins aren’t quite the rush you might be looking for, consider grabbing some friends and checking out a haunted corn maze.

Nicole Lathrop, sophomore equine science major, recommends The Fritzler Maze off of Highway 85.
“I’d recommend it to anyone,” Lathrop said. “They have student prices on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so it’s not too expensive and it was probably one of the best haunted mazes I’ve been to.”
The Fritzler Maze is remaining open until Nov. 3.
“I usually hate scary things — I can never watch scary movies or anything, but when it comes to haunted houses, I guess you could say I like the rush,” Lathrop said.
The Fritzler Maze employees are known to get up close and personal.
“My favorite part of the maze was when they chose me as the ‘sacrifice’,” Lathrop said. “It was super interactive.”
If you are feeling down in the dumps because this year’s Halloween festivities are coming to an end, there is no need to fret.
Fort Collins Ghost Tours is one business that keeps the hauntings coming all year round.
Lori Juszak, founder and partial owner of Fort Collins Ghost Tours, says, “It’s just as much fun and just as spooky all year.”
Tickets for a walking tour are only $15 per person. According to Juszak, they book hundreds of people during the month of October.
“It’s been crazy busy – far beyond our expectations,” Juszak said. “But we really do love having college kids.”
Whether you are spending Halloween nestled close to a significant other, or looking for some spooky late-night fun with friends, Fort Collins has something to offer everyone.
