I’m not a big watcher of South Park, but as a kid who grew up in the same state where the show is based, I feel connected to it. Especially when quirky, real-life Colorado places are visited by the characters. I don’t know which of the writers was filming me, but Cartman’s desperate excitement when he finally gets to go to Casa Bonita has got to be based on me and my first 15 experiences there.
That’s the stuff that makes me relate to the show. And now with a brand-new Church of Scientology on the corner of 24th and Blake Street in Denver, I can go see for myself the institution that accused Stan of being their reincarnated founder, L. Ron Hubbard.
