“Bullfighting: It’s Not What I Do It’s Who I Am”

Nate Jestes, Fort Collins native, Champion Bullfighter

Nate Jestes was born and raised in Fort Collins. He was a successful high school athlete, earning scholarship offers for lacrosse but he turned down those offers to pursue his childhood dream of aviation. After graduating from Montana State University with an associates degree in Aviation technology he became a commercial rated pilot and a Certified Flight Instructor and now shares his passion for aviation with others.

However, Nate was always drawn to the family ranch and the small farming community where his closest friends were from. Those ranch roots lead him to another lifelong passion, bullfighting.

Nate was accepted into the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) in 2010 and has won numerous competitions including:

  • 2016 Bullfighters Only – Las Vegas – Reserve Champion
  • 2016 Bullfighters Only – Oklahoma City PBR – Champion
  • Rex Dunn Memorial Bullfight
  • 2x National Western Stock Show and Rodeo Champion Freestyle Bullfighter.

Nate takes the most pride in his cowboy protection, to him it’s the most gratifying part of the job. In 2016 and 2017 Nate was selected by the top 20 bull riders to protect them at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One of Nate’s sponsors is Otter Box and their Defender series phone case. Defender Series combines three tough layers to guard against the roughest drops, scrapes, bumps, dust and grime. Seems like a great fit for Nate Jestes who makes a living protecting bull riders from rough drops, scrapes, bumps and more.

OtterBox Defender Series
  • The built-in screen cover shields scuffs.
  • The foam-lined inner shell deflects drops.
  • The outer slipcover blocks dirt and dust.
  • Together, they form the rugged case you can rely on.
