The Larimer County All-Hazards / Crisis Response Team executed a search warrant July 14 that led to the seizure of explosive devices and the arrest of a Fort Collins man, Nicholas Dice, according to a July 15 press release from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

A LCSO deputy stopped a vehicle in Loveland and arrested Dice for an outstanding warrant in May but uncovered firearms, including a stolen handgun, methamphetamine, a chemical agent riot grenade and other weapons while searching the vehicle, according to the press release. Dice was booked into Larimer County Jail on charges of possession of an explosive device, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of Schedule II narcotics and unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon but was released on bond.

A search warrant was obtained for Dice’s home in the 100 block of Meadow Lane after LCSO investigators were contacted by agents from the Kansas Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to the press release. Kansas ATF notified the LCSO of an August 2020 incident where an explosive device detonated in Dice’s Kansas basement while he was working on it.

After the house was cleared of hazards, the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad, LCSO investigators and agents from the FBI and ATF searched the Meadow Lane house and found three improvised explosive devices and a Molotov cocktail, as well as firearms and other weapons that violated Dice’s previous bond conditions, according to the press release.

According to the press release, Dice has been booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of violation of bond conditions, three counts of possession of explosive device and possession of incendiary device. Anyone with information regarding this incident or any crime can contact LCSO investigator Kevin Hobson at 970-498-5162 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 970-221-6868.
