Pavelko: Modernization of country dancing is sweeping across nation

Hana Pavelko, Collegian Columnist April 15, 2025
Popular dancing shows often introduce the general population to new dancing styles like the cha-cha, paso doble, Viennese waltz and Charleston. These are only some of the many styles of dance there are in the world, and in recent years, I have seen firsthand the increase in popularity of a different dance style: country dancing.
Seymour: Disliking Western style is just a phase

Seymour: Disliking Western style is just a phase

Charlotte Seymour, Collegian Columnist April 14, 2025
There are two types of people: those who love to wear cowboy boots and sing along to country music and those who would rather not entertain that whole Western vibe. Ultimately, being a hater of the Western theme is a phase. It's a rite of passage, something many of us go through during our younger years when we feel the pressure to conform to what we think is cool.

Thorn: Crisis pregnancy centers do not care about women

Astrid Thorn, Collegian Columnist April 8, 2025
Chances are, if you live in Fort Collins, you have likely seen the Alpha Center on College Avenue. Though it may not be obvious from its generic name or unassuming exterior, the Alpha Center is a facility that claims to offer services to pregnant people, specifically to individuals experiencing unplanned pregnancies.
Souza: 'Liberation Day' will have drastic impact on Colorado, CSU

Souza: ‘Liberation Day’ will have drastic impact on Colorado, CSU

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist April 7, 2025
There is nothing remotely freeing about April 2, the day Donald Trump coined “Liberation Day” by signing an executive order implementing tariffs on about 60 countries worldwide. Despite his intentions, the only things being liberated are the bills from our wallets and the success of the stock market.

Lopez: I’m skipping this year’s ASCSU election; they don’t support all students

Dominique Lopez, Opinion Editor April 2, 2025
Over the four years I have been at Colorado State University, I have only voted in one Associated Students of CSU election. Given the recent diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that may be removed from the university without any input from students or the organization meant to represent us, I can confidently say that I won’t be voting in this year's election either.
Seymour: Overorganization stresses you out more than it helps

Seymour: Overorganization stresses you out more than it helps

Charlotte Seymour, Collegian Columnist April 2, 2025
In a world where we're constantly told that organization is the key to success, many of us strive to plan every aspect of our lives. However, excessive organization can hinder creativity, lead to burnout and strain relationships. Finding a balance between structure and spontaneity is key to a fulfilling life.
Souza: Rate My Professors isn't accurate

Souza: Rate My Professors isn’t accurate

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist March 31, 2025
As much as I love the second half of the spring semester — the warm and fresh weather boosts my mood, work ethic and overall vibe —registering for classes definitely brings unneeded stress to my already stressful life. Not only am I sent into a vicious cycle of worrying about what classes I need and then worrying because they’re not offered, but I frequent one website more often than Canvas, Gmail or ChatGPT (jokes, jokes) combined: Rate My Professors.

Bisant: CSU’s architectural range cultivates scattered yet intriguing campus

Hayley Bisant, Collegian Columnist March 27, 2025
The relationship an average student has with their college campus is far from normal. At least for the first year, it’s where they eat, sleep and work. As a result, campus can seem to encompass a person’s entire life, but hopefully it doesn’t act as such an all-consuming black hole.

Proulx: Making sense of shifts that swung the 2024 presidential election

Caden Proulx, Collegian Columnist March 24, 2025
On September 26th, 2024, I so confidently claimed "Kamala Harris is Brat, will win election because of it." But while Kamala Harris achieved virality in certain circles, Donald Trump achieved it in others.
