Eagles return to Loveland for San Antonio Rampage series

Having only played two home games in January, the Colorado Eagles will return to action at the Budweiser Events Center this Friday to host the (14-17-10) San Antonio Rampage.

In the two clubs’ last meeting on Nov. 12, the Eagles left San Antonio with a 3-1 win thanks to an outstanding performance in net by goalie Hunter Miska. The third-year pro turned aside 38 of 39 shots to secure the victory.

Since then, the goalie tandem of Miska and rookie Adam Werner have been exceptional for the Eagles, as both goalies rank in the league’s top 20 in save percentage. Since getting his first start back on Oct. 5, Werner has owned the crease, posting a 14-7-3 record with a 2.89 goals-against average. He is in the top 10 among AHL goalies in saves and wins.

Colorado currently sits third in the Pacific Division with 46 points in 38 games played with a record of 21-13-4. Similar to last season, the Eagles have used a midseason surge behind solid goaltending to keep them in playoff contention. Colorado is 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and 6-1-1 in their last eight games at the BEC, while San Antonio is 4-4-0-2 in their 10 previous contests.

Free agent signing T.J. Tynan leads the Eagles in points scored this year with 29 (3G, 26A) and is number six in the AHL in assists: a category he led the league in last season.

Tynan will serve as the Eagles’ lone representative at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place from Sunday, Jan. 26 (skills competition) until Monday, Jan. 27 (game) in Ontario, California.

Former Eagle Andrew Agozzino will also be present as he represents the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

As members of the AHL, the Eagles have never lost to the Rampage. Colorado won all four games last season and has outscored San Antonio 19-6 through their last five games.

Colorado is the clear favorite in this matchup, as San Antonio sits at the very bottom of the Central Division.

Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the BEC.
