The Under 20 Women’s European Championship has come to a close and Colorado State women’s basketball players Lena Svanholm and Lore Devos’ time overseas has followed suit.
Svanholm and Devos competed in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) U20 Women’s European Championship representing Denmark and Belgium respectively.
In her seven games with Denmark, Svanholm averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and 1 assist. Her best game came against Belarus when she recorded 24 points on 64 percent shooting, going 11 of 17 from the field. She also added nine rebounds and two assists. Svanholm had another standout performance against Iceland when she recorded a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. Denmark finished in 11th place in the tournament.
In limited minutes with the Rams during her freshman year, Svanholm averaged 1.4 points per games with her season high being eight points against Eastern New Mexico. Her performance overseas will be one Ryun Williams will be forced to rely on following the loss of several key players, including Hannah Tvrdy and Stine Austgulen.
Devos averaged 11.1 points in her seven games with Belgium with her exemplary game coming against Slovakia where she recorded 22 points on 58 percent shooting while adding six rebounds and two assists. Belgium finished 10th place in the tournament.
During the NCAA season, Devos saw decent playing time with as many as 35 minutes in a game against Idaho. In that game, Devos recorded a season high in points with 25 on 62.5 percent shooting. She averaged 7.1 points per game in her freshman season.
