Nick Stevens named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list

After earning second-team All-Mountain West honors for his actions on the field in 2015, junior quarterback Nick Stevens is being recognized for his work off the field this summer, as the California native was named to the 2016 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watch list Thursday morning.

The annual award for college seniors and fourth-year juniors set to graduate on schedule is presented to the nation’s top quarterback based on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership and athletic success.

Stevens is one of 43 quarterbacks to make the watch-list and one of only two representatives from the Mountain West (Kenny Potter, San Jose State).

As a redshirt sophomore in 2015, Stevens broke a 31-year old CSU record for passing yards by a sophomore quarterback with 2,279 yards.

Stevens’ total of 21 touchdowns led the Mountain West and was the fifth-most in CSU history. His passing totals ranked second in the MW, while his passing yards per game (206.1) ranked third and his pass efficiency (138.7) and completion percentage (60.8) ranked fourth.
