Colorado State expected to be at full strength against San Diego State

The injury bug has bitten Colorado State mens basketball ever so slightly.

After trotting out the same starting five for the first 11 games of the season, head coach Larry Eustachy had to switch things up when big man Tiel Daniels was sidelined for two games by a calf strain.

Daniels hurt himself on a dunk during a win against Charleston Southern. Daniels has recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds over the last two games, and Eustachy said the junior is doing great now.

Following the return of Daniels, starting forward Stanton Kidd suffered a sprained ankle early in the game at New Mexico. After sitting out the rest of the contest, Kidd returned the very next game against Wyoming but has shot just 41 percent from the field since coming back. He was shooting 52 percent prior to the New Mexico game.

“He will not be 100 percent (healthy) probably for 2-4 weeks until we get him back full,” Eustachy said, “But he is going to play through it.”

Backup center Marcus Holt is nursing a sprained ankle as well, though Eustachy said it is not as severe as Kidd’s.

Sixth man Gian Clavell has had his shoulder wrapped in recent games but downplayed the injury when asked about it.

“I can play,” Clavell said with a reassuring smile. “I can play.”

Daniels appears to be back to full health and Kidd should still be expected to start Saturday against San Diego State. Clavell and Holt should be available as reserves.

Backup guard Antwan Scott is out for the season with a foot injury and will apply for a medical redshirt.
