It’s been exactly one week since Fort Collins has recorded a temperature above freezing. In that time, we’ve experienced brutal cold and broken a few records. Thankfully, the Canadian system funneling all of that frigid air into our area has begun to break down. As it weakens, our temperatures will begin to rebound toward the norm.

Today marks the beginning to that slow journey. It will definitely be a cold morning, but temperatures will peak at about 30 degrees this afternoon. There may be a bit of a breeze from 2:00 to 4:00pm, but certainly nothing to worry about.

By Tuesday, temperatures will finally climb above the critical 32 degree mark! Although the nights and mornings will continue to be cold, daytime highs will slowly become more mild. Forties return on the later half of the week. No precipitation is forecast through the next five days.

For the mass exodus on Friday, it looks like road conditions should be okay. If you plan on leaving late Friday night or on Saturday, you may run into some snow in the foothills and mountains. I’ll keep you updated throughout the week.
