According to fire authorities, the blaze was relatively small. Majority of the damage was contained to the roof with some water damage also reported in the restaurant.

Early indications point to an electrical box as the reason for the fire, however they are still investigating, according to Fire Captain Ross Reinking.

Reinking estimates that Chipotle “will be back up and running” soon given the limited damage. A complete estimate won’t be available until electrical services investigate the full extent of the damage.

Employees at the Chipotle Mexican Restaurant off of Laurel Street and College Avenue ordered approximately 10 patrons to exit the building when they realized their roof had caught on fire.

Emergency responders received a 911 call a little after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters scaled the east side of Chipotle and put out the fire with a handheld extinguisher, classifying it as a one alarm fire.

Patrick Love, a spokesman for Poudre Fire Authority, said there were no reported injuries.

No more than six businesses located around Chipotle were evacuated. They will remain closed for the day because firefighters shut off gas to the entire complex.
