Construction on the Lory Student Center began in early 2012, as the LSC Theatre was remodeled.   A year and a half later, the LSC is closed as it receives it’s most expensive face lift ever.

This week the East end walls of the LSC were ripped away from the building, leaving a skeleton of what used to be one of the most used buildings on the CSU campus.

The LSC is expected to reopen in the Fall of 2014.  Until then, construction crews will help CSU celebrate many years of memories in the LSC by redesigning it into one of the nicest buildings on campus.

The redesign of the LSC will add over 40,000 square feet to the original structure.  The expansion includes additional ball rooms, more food court vendors, and a micro-brewery that will be added near the former Rams Skellar.

The renovations are expected to cost $70 million, with only $5 million coming from donations.  Student fees will cover the rest of the project.

The building recently celebrated it’s 50 year anniversary.
