LTTE: Stand firm against attacks on DEI, research funding at CSU

Guest Author February 24, 2025
When I graduated from Colorado State University with my undergraduate degree I was honored to be named an Outstanding Graduate, and I was also nominated and then selected to deliver the Senior Address at my commencement ceremony. These recognitions, I believe, were largely due to my perseverance through immense hardship, having demonstrated that I was able to withstand a lot of suffering and hardship without giving up while staying committed to earning my degree, and still managing to stay involved with student government, and multiple extracurriculars.

Bisant: Self-dates are more valuable than you may think

Comment sections play a much larger role in the enjoyment of social media platforms than one might expect. The second it’s no longer available, the entire experience feels immediately diminished, despite the fact that it’s a relatively small feature. It’s also something you barely notice until it’s no longer available, similar to how resounding silence tends to feel much louder than whatever sound was previously audible in the background.

Seriously: Trump announces replacements for Department of Education

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist February 18, 2025
During his path to presidency and even after inauguration, between his stints pardoning QAnon shamans who are more loyal and white than his jizz napkins, President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he wants to cut the Department of Education. Just yesterday, he announced his plans to replace the department with “something funner.”

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is a brave attempt that falls short

Riley Paling, Staff Reporter February 18, 2025

There is no denying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in a strange place since "Avengers: Endgame." While some projects like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" have...

Weishaar: The BMI is outdated, flawed

Audrey Weishaar, Collegian Columnist February 18, 2025
According to the Body Mass Index, I am obese. The Body Mass Index, more commonly referred to as the BMI, is a measure of how fat someone is. It is used in the medical field as a health indicator. I can not overstate how unbelievably flawed this tool is.
Seymour: Spring semester acts as 2nd chance in college

Seymour: Spring semester acts as 2nd chance in college

Charlotte Seymour, Collegian Columnist February 17, 2025
As a fresh college student, the first semester can be rough and intimidating. It feels like we're thrown into a pack of wolves and just told, “You’ll be fine, go make some friends.” But it is not easy.
Seriously: Valentine's Day protection means 1 less Scorpio man

Seriously: Valentine’s Day protection means 1 less Scorpio man

Astrid Thorn, Collegian Columnist February 13, 2025
Valentine’s Day is arguably the sexiest day of the year. It is the one day a year that is entirely devoted to love, intimacy and getting it on, making it the perfect excuse for an extra steamy, extra long night of fun. But remember to take caution when getting frisky this Valentine’s Day because if you’re not careful, you may find yourself staring at a positive pregnancy test a few weeks later, and if that alone isn’t enough to scare you, here’s something that should.

Several years ago, I first saw this video of Angelina Jolie receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2013 Governors Awards, a ceremony by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that recognizes various actors’ achievements. I’m not particularly moved by award show speeches; I don’t particularly watch award shows.

Astrid Thorn, Collegian Columnist February 10, 2025
As the United States continues to move into a presidency that ran a campaign in favor of oppression toward women and numerous other marginalized groups, everyone must stand together.

Souza: Apathy will define Trump’s presidency

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist February 6, 2025
The beginning of Donald Trump's presidency has regrettably been marked by one of the most deadly and tragic U.S. aviation disasters since 2001: the Jan. 29 Washington, D.C., plane collision.

On Feb. 6, 1954, during halftime at a home basketball game against the University of Wyoming, former Colorado State University President William E. Morgan officially named CAM the Ram as the university's ambassador, and the rest is history.

Lopez: We need to choose to fight for a better future

Dominique Lopez, Opinion Editor February 3, 2025
After the 2024 national election results were finalized, I joked I would just move out of the United States for the next four years since I was close to graduation. However, with each day I am starting to realize this is no joking matter. Last week, my mom texted me with urgency, reminding me to have my ID on me at all times. Suddenly, the weight of what the next four years of my life in the US would look like as a woman of color sunk in.
