76-year-old man pronounced dead in Dowdy Lake kayaking incident

A 76-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was found in the water at Dowdy Lake in Red Feather Lakes along with an overturned kayak Sept. 17, according to a press release published by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. 

The LCSO responded to a report of the man at approximately 11:32 a.m. after which LCSO Emergency Services, deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene.

The man was not wearing a personal flotation device.

After he was pulled from the water, responders administered CPR, and he was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The man’s name has yet to be released, but the Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release this information as well as the cause and manner of death at a later time.
