Update: As of 12:45 a.m., authorities had still not located the wanted felon who was last seen fleeing on foot in the Horsetooth Reservoir area, after leading authorities on a car chase and instigating a bomb squad investigation.

The bomb squad determined that the condominium complex was safe around 12:30 a.m. after a nearly three-hour investigation. During the investigation, the team deployed a robot.

Residents of the unit were evacuated after authorities found a suspicious device in the suspect’s residence. 

According to Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer David Moore, residents in the unit will be able to re-enter their condos after criminal investigators perform their investigation of the residence. 

A few of the unit’s residents were waiting outside to re-enter their homes, and late into the night it began to rain. Other residents of the complex were concerned about the circumstances that led to the incident.

“This is unacceptable,” said Sarah Miller, a member of the HOA Board for the Scotch Pines Condominium Association, who watched the investigation unfold. “The landlord probably didn’t do a background check. This is a nice neighborhood with families and children. It’s disturbing to me.”

Several residents expressed frustration regarding the evacuation. Residents in the unit that the suspect was living in were evacuated around 8:30 p.m. 

“The investigation will continue through the night,” Moore said. “…Everything in the apartment is safe at this time and there is no danger to the residents in the area. Right now we’re focusing our efforts on capturing this fugitive and keeping the community safe from him. Once the scene is cleared here, we hope to get the residents back in as soon as possible.”

Multiple law enforcement agencies are engaged in a pursuit of a wanted fugitive near Horsetooth Reservoir after the suspect fled an attempted contact earlier this evening.

Around 7 p.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact a wanted felon in the Scotch Pines Condominiums near Lemay Avenue and Drake Road, according to Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Moore. 

The suspect is reportedly a felon with multiple warrants out for his arrest. According to some reports on the police scanner, he may be armed with a gunshot wound. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.

After the suspect fled, authorities found a suspicious device upon searching the suspect’s residence. The unit was evacuated and the regional bomb squad was called to the scene.

After the suspect fled, authorities attempted a canine track, but were unsuccessful. The suspect was later located in a cab, and authorities engaged in pursuit.

The civilian cab driver fled the vehicle and the suspect continued on towards Horsetooth Reservoir. The vehicle pursuit ended in a crash, and the suspect fled on foot. 

Authorities are attempting to locate the suspect in the area. Authorities are asking the public to remain inside and report any suspicious activity.

The status of the suspect and the cab driver are unknown at this time.
