Dead body found on College Ave on Monday

A man was found dead in a ditch off of College Avenue at 9 a.m. on Monday, Fort Collins Police say.

The man was identified as Brian Wegener, age 58 of Des Moines, Iowa. According to Larimer County Coroner, Wegener was homeless and died of cardiac arrest.

Police said a witness claimed to have discovered the body of an adult man lying in the James Ames ditch near Mister Money, located at 746 N. College Avenue.

Police arrived on scene shortly after the report was made. After investigation, police did not suspect foul play in the death.

The manager at Mister Money Pawn Shop declined to comment on the death.
