Clean-up crews are clearing wreckage from the intersection of Swallow Road and Shields Street after an accident involving a silver mid-sized Nissan pickup and a white four-door sedan.
The driver of the truck, a 3-year resident of Fort Collins, was traveling west on Swallow Road and the driver of the white sedan, a Rocky Mountain High School junior was traveling east turning left. There were two passengers in the car.
As the pick-up truck crossed the intersection, traveling about 30 mph, the driver of the white sedan turned into the truck. The airbag deployed and both vehicles sustained serious damage.
One of the three passengers in the white sedan had a bandaged knee and was cared for by paramedics, but a witness reported that all three Rocky Mountain juniors were OK.
“I don’t know what it is about this intersection, but every year there seems to be at least one serious crash,” said a seven year Fort Collins resident who stopped at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up truck reported feeling fine and walked away from the accident.
