The days of pitching a tent, cooking with charcoal, and finding a bush may be in the past for modern campers. “Glamping” is among us, according to Michael Finney of San Francisco’s ABC7 affiliate.

“Glamping (glam or glamor camping) as some call it, is about enjoying all the comforts of home in the great outdoors,” Finney wrote.

Curious what glamping is? (It kind of reminds me of this scene from Harry Potter.) According to Glamping.com, Glamping provides vacationers the opportunity to experience nature while maintaining a resort-like atmosphere.

“When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no fire to build,” says the ‘What is Glamping?’ section of Glamping.com, a website that aids “Glampers” in their search for the perfect “Glampsite.”
