What: NCIPA Powwow 2013

Where: Northside Aztlan Community Center

Ad

When: Saturday, April 20 at 9:30 a.m. to Sunday, April 21 at 7 p.m.

Cost: Adults are $5 for the day or $8 for the weekend, children are $3

Saturday and Sunday, head over to the Aztlan Center to enjoy the Annual Spring Powwow Contest and Art Market. This event goes on all weekend, and parking is free. There’ll be arts and crafts for sale, and concessions will begin at 11 a.m. Said concessions will include Indian Tacos, frybread, beef stew, and frito pie. And, of course, there’ll be dancing.

More information can be found at www.fortnet.org/powwow/

What: 50 Shades of Fort Collins

Where: Fort Collins Museum of Discovery (408 Mason Ct.)

When: Friday, April 19 from 8 to 10 p.m.

Cost: $10, 21+

When it comes to 50 shades of anything, you know you’re in for something… interesting. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery tends to appeal more to kids, but they’re not allowed at this event since it covers the more risqué aspects of Fort Collins. There’ll be drinks, desserts and pole dancing on top of racy tales of our own FoCo.

Registration in advance is required.

What: Soul Food Gospel Fest

Where: Corbett and Parmelee dining halls

When: Sunday, April 21 from 4:45 to 7 p.m.

Cost: One swipe for CSU Mealplan cardholders, $8.50 in advance and $10.35 at the door. Kids under 4 are free.

There’ll be a performance in the Corbett and Parmelee dining halls Sunday evening, featuring performances by Tyree Morris & Hearts of Worship, the House of Worship Center Choir and the Abyssinian Christian Choir. It’s in the dining hall so it’s pretty much all you can eat for the cost of entry, plus some lovely music while you dine. This event is being put on by the Black/African American Cultural Center. For more information call (970) 491-5781 or go to www.baacc.colostate.edu.

What: Fundraising Dog Wash

Where: Spring Canyon Dog Park

When: Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $10 for a dog wash, $5 for a nail trimming

Maybe you want to get in swimsuit shape for the summer — you’re cute the way you are, but whatever makes you happy — but how do you think your dog feels? You think Fido doesn’t want to feel attractive? You’re wrong. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution: for $10 you can get your dog a bath, and for $5 you can get a nail trimming — for your dog, of course. Clip your own damn nails.

This event is being put on by CSU vet students to raise money to attend the SAVMA Symposium at Louisiana State University in, uh, Louisiana. Help out members of your community and your dog at the same time.

What: Te Deum Laudamus

Where: St. John’s Lutheran Church (305 E Elizabeth St.)

When: Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m.

Cost: $10 for adults, $7

If FoCoMX isn’t your speed, try some classical music. Under the new Laudamus music director, Miles Canaday, the Laudamus Chamber Chorale will perform at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sunday at 3 p.m. The performance will feature work by Benjamin Britten, Johannes Brahms, Johann Ludwig Krebs, John Dowland, Domenico Ferrabosco, Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner.
