News surfaced about Armando Montano, the Colorado native and AP intern who was found dead in Mexico, being an “out gay journalist” and a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, according to Metro Weekly. This also appeared at the same time that Anderson Cooper, a CNN journalist whose sexuality has always drawn speculation, came out in an email exchange with, fellow gay journalist, Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Beast. Entertainment Weekly sites the fact that celebrities are coming out using a nonchalant and matter of facts formula that many of us wonder if they had been gay before and we simply neglected to notice. This raises the question, does it really even matter anymore? Or rather, have we moved beyond a time where the shock value no longer merits the front page of Time Magazine? I for one hope so.  I’m not sure it needs to be news anymore. I think it would be positive for everyone if celebrities, and anyone else, could casually come out and then proceed to go about their business of reporting, or entertaining, or whatever their own life’s work may be.
