In early November medical marijuana was legalized in Illinois. According to the Associated Press, dispensaries sold over $211,000 worth of inventory during the first week of sales.

The first pot shops opened their doors to patients Nov. 9. Since then over 806 customers have purchased marijuana at a rate of around $16 a gram, plus a seven percent sales tax.

A digital tracking system is used statewide to monitor sales and patient activity. To read more about the newly implemented medical marijuana industry, see the full article.
