CSU open today, report fallen branches to Facilities Management

CSU is open and operating on a normal schedule today, the university announced on social media, while warning that streets, sidewalks and parking lots may be “slushy.”

According to a news release from the City of Fort Collins, there are several downed tree branches throughout Fort Collins, but city crews are working to address problems as they are reported, with their primary emphasis being placed on safety hazards and major roads.

A message from the Public Safety Team this morning reminded students that during any wet spring snow it’s a good idea to watch for snow falling off trees and buildings.

“The Public Safety Team wants to remind students, faculty and staff to be cautious when driving, walking or riding your bike under trees or beside buildings,” the message said. “The snow also may cause some tree branches to break and snow also is sliding off roofs.”

Facilities has closed some areas where falling tree branches may be a problem. The Public Safety Team asks that you obey signs and barriers across areas of sidewalks that have been closed.

If you see any broken or fallen tree branches on campus, please report it to CSU Facilities Management at 970-491-0077, and report safety hazards in the city through Access Fort Collins.

Safety updates are available from the Public Safety Team at www.safety.colostate.edu.
