Seriously: To Chip the Buffalo from CAM the Ram

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist September 12, 2024
As the official mascot of Colorado State University, I would first like to fully acknowledge our longstanding history as the two biggest public universities in Colorado. I respect and understand why we have a feud because, as in many other parasocial relationships, there’s always one celebrity and one fanboy. Not to imply the beef is one-sided, but while you’re the only one spitting it out, here we like to swallow. You make it hard, though — buffalo burgers really taste like shit.

Lopez: Dear Fort Collins

Dominique Lopez, Opinion Editor September 12, 2024
Where do I begin? The community you provide for students at Colorado State University is undeniably the best. With opportunities to go to the mountains, hang out in Old Town and even attend classes right in the heart of the city is amazing.

LFTE: The Collegian, CU Independent join forces for showdown special edition

Allie Seibel and Jessi Sachs September 12, 2024

Harris: It's time to put demure to sleep

Harris: It’s time to put demure to sleep

Ava Harris, Collegian Columnist September 12, 2024
Jumping on TikTok trends? Not very cutesy, not very mindful — definitely not demure. The TikTok community has been buzzing since the term demure first made its debut, using it with every opportunity they get. While many find this trend to be entertaining, I find it rather irritating.

Bisant: Living in the dorms should not be required

Hayley Bisant, Collegian Columnist September 11, 2024
Having a first-year roommate is an infamous part of the college experience. I heard a story from almost every adult in my life about who they got saddled with the summer before I left to attend Colorado State University. While I did hear a fair share of sweet or funny stories, others were downright horrifying. And in the end, I was left wondering why students are made to endure such bizarre living conditions.

Naiditch: Navigating newfound independence in college isn’t easy

Ava Naiditch, Collegian Columnist September 11, 2024
When many of us graduated high school and made the decision to go away for college, we all likely heard the same phrase thrown at us: “you are going to find newfound independence when you get to school.” To some who heard it, I imagine they thought it meant that they were going to go to all the parties, be curfew-free, eat anything and everything that want, maybe not clean their room and maybe not even go to class every day. And they may not be wrong.
Seriously: Students scramble for Rocky Mountain Showdown tickets

Seriously: Students scramble for Rocky Mountain Showdown tickets

Hana Pavelko, Collegian Columnist September 10, 2024
On Aug. 14, student tickets went live for the upcoming Colorado State University sport seasons. With football and volleyball tickets becoming available, students were ecstatic to claim their tickets for the home games. Despite the numerous home games to look forward to, students had their eyes on one game: the Rocky Mountain Showdown. Having been hosted at CU Boulder last year, CSU students are excited to show their ram pride at Canvas Stadium for the biggest football game of the season.

Souza: TikTok lowers talent standards

Souza: TikTok lowers talent standards

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist September 3, 2024
I’m all for a good doomscroll, and I love bed rotting as much as the next girl. In the rotation of apps I use to waste my time, TikTok is a constant and a staple. I used to predominantly consume what I deemed genuine content: cooking videos or cute animals or even brain rot that was admittedly stupid yet deeply captivating.
