New York bill to ban pet tattoos

11761834813_1f412de111_zIn light of the highly publicized dog-tattooing done by “Mistah Metro,” New York assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis reintroduced a bill to qualify tattooing as animal abuse, according to an article in The Brooklyn Eagle.

“These animals can not give consent and end up suffering from the pain of recovery and possible infection, or post-surgery complications,” Malliotakis said in an interview with The Eagle.

Additionally, the local anesthetic used during the process applying pet tattoos puts the pet at a greater health risk.
