Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives voted to pass a measure 149-43 Wednesday that could legalize medical marijuana, according to Fox News. The bill will now move on to the Senate for a final vote Monday.

Medical cannabis has been in the works for PA for well over a year. The measure was previously approved by the senate 40-7 last May, but was then shot down in the House. Many Republic representatives argued that federal law should still trump state law. 

Monday and Tuesday the house approved multiple amendments in support of the new medical marijuana measure, Senate Bill 3. 

“I applaud the Pennsylvania House for passing legislation to legalize medical marijuana, and I look forward to the Senate sending the bill to my desk. We will finally provide the essential help needed by patients suffering from seizures, cancer, and other illnesses,” PA Governor Tom Wolf said in a statement.
