Nearly three dozen Rams honored following conference championships

A hefty 29 members of the CSU outdoor track and field team were recognized with Mountain West honors following the conclusion of the conference championships in California.

The men’s and women’s squads finished second and third respectively at the final conference meet, with Jalen Hunter, Maria Muzzio and Cole Rockhold taking home individual titles.

The list of women taking home All-Mountain West honors were: Kelcey Bedard (hammer), Annemarie Carlson (4×400-meter relay), Jasmine Chesson (4×400-meter relay), Autumn Gardner (high jump), Michelle Gould (4×400-meter relay), Linnea Jonsson (hammer), Muzzio (discus), Jessica Ozoude (4×100-meter relay, 4×400-meter relay), Destinee Rocker (100-meter hurdles, 4×100-meter relay), Marybeth Sant (4×100-meter relay), Lettia Wilson (4×100-meter relay) and rounding it out, McKenzie Wright (high jump).

On the other end of the spectrum, the men achieving the same feat were: Danny Baumgardt (triple jump), Austin Blaho (shot put), Isa Bynum (long jump), Will Domier (4×100-meter relay), Grant Fischer (10,000 meters), Nathan Gish (4×100-meter relay), Eric Hamer (10,000 meters), Caleb Hardy (4×400-meter relay), Mostafa Hassan (discus, shot put), Hunter (110-meter hurdles, 4×100-meter relay, 4×400-meter relay), Bailey King (hammer), Garrett Lane (110-meter hurdles), Jerrell Mock (10,000 meters), Rockhold (1,500 meters, 5,000 meters), Ronald Sayles (4×100-meter relay, 4×400 meter relay), Darius Smith (400-meter hurdles, 4×400-meter relay) and Trenton Wallace (high jump).

The Rams fared well in the throwing portion of the championships, with seven athletes taking home All-Mountain West honors. The Rams also had six athletes win their prospective events, with Muzzio and Gardner from the women’s side and Hassan, Hunter, Mock and Rockhold on the men’s side of the weekend.

The teams will now move onto their NCAA West Preliminaries set to take place May 24-26 in California once again. The athletes for the events are still to be determined.
