New Orleans Saints waive QB Garrett Grayson

After being selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, former Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson has been waived by the New Orleans Saints, according to multiple reports.

Grayson, who is the career passing leader at CSU, was the third quarterback selected in the 2015 draft, behind only Jameis Winston (TB) and Marcus Mariota (Ten). In his rookie season, Grayson did not play any regular season snaps.

After Grayson struggled in the preseason this year, the Saints elected to go with the experienced Luke McCown to back up Drew Brees instead. In the Saints four preseason games, Grayson posted a quarterback rating of 58.6. In total, Grayson completed 39-of-70 pass attempts for 409 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

Although the Saints waived Grayson, if the young QB clears waivers, he may end up back in New Orleans as a member of the practice squad.

In his time at CSU, Grayson shattered nearly every major school passing record. Grayson threw for 9,191 yards in his collegiate career and also holds school records for completions (688), attempts (1,085) and touchdown passes (64). In 2014, Grayson broke the single-season record for passing yards (4,006) and touchdown passes (32).
