Assistant Track Coaches Tim and Cathleen Cawley leave CSU

Tim Cawley, assistant CSU track coach, is leaving the Rams for a head coaching position for the University of Idaho, located in Moscow, Idaho.

Assistant Coach Cawley primarily worked with athletes who compete in the heptathlon and the pentathlon, for the past 11 years.  The step up to a head coaching position at the University of Idaho this fall is well-deserved, according to Brian Bedard, CSU’s head track coach.

“Tim has been eager to move into the next phase of his coaching career, and we have tried to support him and prepare him for a head coaching position,” Bedard said in a press release.

Cawley has led many athletes to great feats. In 2012, Cawley coached Janay Deloach, former CSU long jumper, to the summer olympics in London. She placed third. According to Cawley, he is excited for this new adventure and the opportunity to work with many student-athletes.

“We (Tim Cawley and his wife) are excited to be Vandals and are looking forward to getting to work with a great group of student-athletes,” Cawley said.

Tim Cawley’s wife, Cathleen Cawley, will be joining him in Idaho. She was a presence on the CSU track team as managing director and the high jumping coach for the past several years.
