The CSU softball team’s May 1 game at Northern Colorado has been cancelled due to the snow fall.

The game was originally scheduled for April 17 and was cancelled then due to snow as well. The game will not be made up.
The Rams next take field Friday against Mountain West-leading San Diego State.

Before heading into a three-game series against first place San Diego State (30-17,8-4MW) this weekend, the CSU softball (21-22,7-5MW) will play one game against in-state rival Northern Colorado Wednesday.
The Rams fell in two out their last three games against Boise State. This past weekend was a step back for the Rams and has thus now put the pressure for their series against the Bears and the upcoming Aztecs.
Over the weekend the Rams struggled move up in the conference during what may have seemed like an easy series on paper, but the Rams are confident with their changes in practice.
“We are really working on the quality of pitches by the pitchers,” CSU coach Jen Fisher said. “Typically if the pitchers put the ball in the right spot, good things will happen on the field behind them.”
Prior to the weekend, the Boise State (15-28-1,5-1MW) was ranked last and CSU was tied for first place.
“Friday really hurt us,” Fisher said. “It is heart breaking that we have had ten or so games now that have come to extra inning losses or a walk off home-run in the seventh.”

Throughout the season, CSU has continued to strive in the field over swinging the bats. With a constant practice of place mentality, the Rams have now turned their focus to fundamentals and continuing to pull through in those close games.
“I am excited for the upcoming series against UNC, senior Kacie McCarthy said. “It is going to give us the opportunity to practice game like situations before the three-game series against San Diego this weekend.What really is going to keep us in games is our hitting…extra practice will get us where we need to be and for this weekend.”
Wednesday’s match up marks the second season between the Rams and the Bears. Sweeping UNC last year, CSU enters knowing they have already defeated the Bears 10-0 this season on March 6.
“I am really hoping that we can get out and play strong tomorrow,” Fisher said. “We need to gain sharpness while continuing to get some looks at the plate.”
No matter the turn out for Wednesday’s game, the Rams must turn their full attention to the Aztecs. CSU is looking for their first win over San Diego State since May of 2012. The Rams are hungry for a win, and a first place ranking in the MW.
