The CSU softball team came into this weekend looking to change their momentum and put their team back on the winning side. With a goal set to take two games in the three game series at Nevada, CSU returns to Ram country unable to meet their goal.

The Rams came out strong in game one, shutting out Nevada 10-0. However, CSU failed to come out on top after taking game two and three into extra innings.
After losing game two 4-3, game three was the hardest as the Rams lost 5-4 on a walk off home-run in the bottom of the 12th inning.
“Everybody feels terrible,” Fisher said. “We want it so badly… I try to tell the ladies we are right there.”
The Rams fell below .500 for the second weekend in a row. Adding their first to losses in MW play, the Rams dropped out of first place with a record of 17-20, 4-2MW.
Right off the bench, the Rams came into game one swinging the bats smart and hard through the gaps. Taking game one of the series on Friday, it seemed that CSU’s goal could be easier said than done.
“Its a game of inches,” Fisher said. “There were similar plays that they were called safe, and then in the next inning we were called out. Calls can go either way, that happens in all sports.”
Shutting out the WolfPack in game one, the Rams could not continue their momentum against the top home-run and double producing team in the conference.
The Rams came into game three leading the WolfPack 3-0 after four innings. However, Nevada took over the lead after scoring four runs in the fifth innings. CSU scored in the top of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
“It was a terrible feeling after 12 innings that we gave that up,” Fisher said. “To loose two in heartbreaking fashion, we are gonna bounce back quickly.”

Next CSU will travel to Greeley where they will play one game against the Bears. Earlier in the season, the Rams shut out Northern Colorado 10-0 during the Colorado Classic. This is a big opportunity for CSU to regain momentum, and take themselves off the losing side.
“We need to take a step back and stay loose,” Fisher said. “We need more margin for error.”
