A quick stop in London

The plane ride over to London was not half bad, but it was not half good either. 9 hours of sitting makes your mind play tricks on you. Did I see something on the wing of the plane? I’ll never know. I thought I would have done quite a bit of reading but I just watched movies on the screen in front of me the whole time, and they had quite the selection. The flight attendants fed us dinner and breakfast which was pretty neat.  No one sat in the seat between me and my old woman friend in the aisle so I was able to stretch and do other wild things.

Once we landed, my Colorado friend, Jacob, and I met up with other students and went to the hotel. It was only 10:00 am and we were not allowed to check in until 2:00 pm, so we went to a local restaurant, sat in a corner and wept ever so softly.  We didn’t actually weep, but I was disappointed because jet lag is real and my poor body needed rest.

There was a group of people going to St. Petersburg as well but we didn’t really hang out with them since we would not be seeing them for four straight months. Finally we checked in and had a roommate assignment. I slept right away and later that night us Frenchies went to eat, rehydrate, and lounge.  The food isn’t all that good in London but at least my body got the proper nutrients, and that is all I can ask for.

The next morning we went on a 3 hour tour of London. Our tour guide Séan, was a ball, and I even managed to sneak in a little picture- MUAHAHA!

We went to St. Paul’s cathedral, Buckingham Palace, watched the changing of the guards (I didn’t get to stare into their eyes, dang it), saw The London Eye a.k.a Sauron a.k.a The Big Ferris Wheel.  I saw Gringotts bank and “Hogwarts”, where Daniel Ratcliffe went to school. We also saw Big Ben, which is not the clock, it’s the bell within, according to Séan. We went to the National Gallery and saw works of art, even one by da Vinci.  After that, we tried to figure out the Tube which is the underground transportation and eventually got to the hotel where I slept for a while because my poor, bent feet needed a break, and because we needed to be awake by 4:15 am!

London overall was awesome and it is a shame we could only stay 2 days, but I’m really excited to go to Cannes!

Bonne nuit!
