Fashion News Friday – Katy Perry, Kate Moss and Wedding Dresses!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts this week! School has caught up with me big time (I had three midterms this week). I’m back with another Fashion News Friday. This week brought us some fun news involving celebrities and their influence in the fashion world.

Katy Perry was announced as CoverGirl’s new CoverGirl for spring 2014. Within the last year, the brand has had a major makeover, with edgier products that changes what it means to be “drugstore products.” The notorious drugstore brand has had Janelle Monae and Pink as their too latest CoverGirls in addition to some edgier new products (their Catching Fire collaboration anyone?). With Katy Perry releasing her new album Prism, it makes perfect sense for her to be the next spokesperson. The line will feature a new lineup of products by Pat McGrath. It’s speculated that the collection will include bold nail art and shadows that mimic Perry’s bold style.

Model Kate Moss has been named a contributing editor for British VogueThe 33 time cover star isn’t just going to be a guest for the magazine, but rather a permanent editor. What makes her perfect for this role? She has experience in the industry as a model, designer and even a singing. How will she act to being behind the camera rather in front of it? Alexandra Schulman of British Vogue says that her “brilliant sense of style, depth of fashion knowledge and understanding of what makes a wonderful image” will be exciting to see on the pages of the famed magazine.

If anyone loves weddings and wedding dresses as much as I do, then you will appreciate that it is Bridal Fashion Week in New York where all the wedding dress designers come together to show off their latest collections. I must say that these dresses are absolutely stunning! I’m a big sucker for all things wedding, so seeing these dresses makes me want to plan my own wedding! Designers that walked down the runway include Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang. The trends coming out of the shows are pink dresses, halter necklines, lace sleeves, gold gowns and embellishments, vintage glamour, and cover ups.
