Colorado State University alumna and Xbox executive Bonnie Ross will be coming to CSU Thursday to talk about “Video gaming: Empowering creativity with technology.”
Ross is the corporate vice president of Xbox and head of 343 Industries, which oversees the game franchise Halo.
Ross will speak in the Behavioral Sciences Building room 131 Thursday from 4-5 p.m. as part of the Journalism and Media Communication department’s Geoffrey W. Holmes Distinguished Lecture Series, according to a SOURCE article. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Ross focuses many of her talks on getting women into technology-related fields and mixing art with technology.
“After my talks, I have a ton of women and girls come up to me and say, ‘I didn’t know you could do this,'” Ross said in a SOURCE article, referring to speeches she has given at events focused on women in STEM fields.
Ross will be visiting campus for two days, and along with her talk, she also plans to take a campus tour, visit classes in the College of Liberal Arts and College of Natural Sciences and meet with faculty, students and administrators in both colleges.
Ross began her CSU career as an engineering major but switched to journalism in the 1987-88 school year. She graduated with a degree in technical communication and a concentration in physics and computer science in 1989, according to SOURCE.
