Earlier this morning, gunshots were fired at a suspect after a disturbance call was made regarding loud banging sounds coming from an apartment in Fort Collins, according to a Fort Collins Police press release.
At approximately 5:08 a.m., the Fort Collins police received am emergency call from a concerned citizen regarding loud sounds coming from a residence at 1025 Oxford Lane, building C. While an officer was en route, the original caller called again to report that a small explosion noise was heard coming from the apartment.
When the dispatch officer arrived, it was clear the suspect at the apartment had a weapon. The officer was prompted to shoot at the suspect, but neither the officer or suspect sustained any injuries.
Even though no injuries were inflicted upon the officer, the officer has been placed on administrative leave per Larimer County Police Department policy. The suspect in question is currently in custody.
The investigation is ongoing and neither the name of the officer involved or suspect’s name have been released. The Officer-Involved Incident Protocol has been activated, therefor the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office will be leading the ongoing investigation.
