With recruitment coming up for all fraternities and sororities at Colorado State University, the organizations are hosting a variety of philanthropy events to raise money for local charities.
Kappa Alpha Theta is raising money and clothing items for their philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), through a kickball tournament. The tournament will be on the Intramural Fields from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. It costs $100 for a team to participate, which includes food. Tournament attendance costs $5 in advance or $6 Sunday.
The Triangle Fraternity is hosting an ultimate frisbee tournament from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 26. To play, it costs $5 per player, and each team must contain at least five players, two of which must be women. They are raising money for their philanthropy, Habitat for Humanity of Fort Collins.
Sigma Alpha is joining with FarmHouse for the annual Heifer International Barbecue. There will be barbecue, games and prizes for all that attend from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 2. The cost is $7 per person and proceeds will go to Heifer International, a group focused on ending world hunger and poverty through the “teach a man to fish” philosophy, according to its website. The event will be at at the FarmHouse Fraternity house at 633 W. Lake St.
Zeta Tau Alpha is hosting its annual Think Pink Week in October. According to its national website, the sorority uses the month of October to raise awareness for breast cancer. All events are scattered throughout the month of October and will take place at 6 p.m. at the Zeta Tau Alpha house at 1225 Baystone Dr. The events and prices will be determined at a later date.
