Update: 10:16 a.m. July 28

The first physical assault early Sunday morning occurred on the 1900 block of West Plum Street. The second assault occurred Monday on the 1200 block of East Lincoln Avenue.

In both of the physical assault cases, the women were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Two separate incidents of physical assaults occurred against female victims in Fort Collins neighborhoods Sunday and Monday nights, according to a press release from the city.

These incidents are similar because both women were attacked from behind by unknown male(s) while returning to their apartment complexes.

Both of the victims were able to escape the male assailant(s) and call police, according to the press release. Both female victims suffered physical injuries during the assaults. It is unclear what the motives behind these assaults were, or if the two incidents are linked.

Police have very little information that will lead them to identifying the suspect(s) at this time, according to the press release.

Information about these incidents should be directed to Sgt. Kristy Volesky at 970-224-6020, or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868.

SafeWalk provides an escort from one point to another on campus, or from campus to a nearby location. SafeWalk can be reached at 970-491-1155.

The Public Safety Team advises that basic safety tips be kept in mind. These tips include locking doors and windows, reporting suspicious activity to 911 or CSUPD and taking action when something does not feel right.
