Tornado warning in Larimer County

Update: 7:20 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southeastern Larimer County, northeastern Boulder County and southwestern Weld County until 10:15 p.m.

At 7:13 p.m., weather spotters confirmed heavy rain from Gilcrest to Lyons, and flooding along Highway 287 in Loveland and Berthoud. The thunderstorm is moving wet at 5 mph with up to 1 inch of rain. Another 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible.

Locations that will experience flooding include southern Greeley, Longmont, southwestern Loveland, Evans, Firestone, Johnstown, Milliken, Berthoud, Mead, Platteville, Lyons and Gilcrest.

The National Weather Service advises to move to higher ground immediately.

Update: 7:10 p.m.

A tornado has been confirmed 5 miles northeast of Lyons, according to Channel 2 News Denver. The tornado also brought about 2-inch sized hail.

The tornado warning for Larimer and Boulder counties has been extended to 7:30 p.m.

Update: 7:05 p.m.

A tornado warning is in effect for southeastern Larimer County and northeastern Boulder County.

A confirmed tornado was located at 7:02 p.m. 5 miles northeast of Lyons moving west at 15 mph.

Locations of impact include Longmont, southern Loveland, Berthoud and Lyons.

After confirming a tornado located near Berthoud, the National Weather Service in Denver has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Larimer County, northeastern Boulder County and southwestern Weld County until 7 p.m.

The tornado was confirmed at 6:37 p.m. 21 miles south of Fort Collins. The tornado is moving west at 15 mph with half-dollar sized hail.

The National Weather Service advises to move indoors to an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building, and to avoid windows.

Those outdoors or in vehicles should move to the closest substantial shelter.

Flying debris can injure those outside and cause damage to or destroy mobile homes and vehicles.
